Spring has come to New Zealand and knocking at the door! I feel it. No more cravings for heavy winter food, I eat smoothies for breakfast again and I’m very happy about it!
The best way to kick-start the morning is to drink a big jar of cleansing green smoothie. Or create the fancy smoothie bowl with lots of crunchy seeds, nuts and dried fruits. This is a natural energy booster to keep you full of energy until lunch.
Add to the smoothie your favourite seasonal fruits, vegetables and leafy green vegetables. The dark leafy greens are good for you, they contain high-quality amino acids, important minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and beneficial phytonutrients. A splash of lemon juice and a piece of fresh ginger help to cleanse your body and boost your immune system at springtime. And don’t forget about kiwi fruit, I really enjoy the season of sweet and juicy kiwi fruits.
Ingredients
2 Serves- 3 ripe bananas, peeled
- 2 ripe green kiwis, peeled
- small bunch of curly kale, stems removed
- handful of baby spinach
- juice of 1/4 lemon
- juice of 1 cm piece of ginger (optional)
To serve:
Chia seeds, sesame seeds (black and white), flaxseed, nuts, dried fruits, granola, muesli, puffed grains or any your favorite crunchy additions.
Directions
Put all ingredients in the blender, mix well until smooth and creamy. If you are using a high-speed blender is not necessary to add the liquid in the smoothie. If the mixture is too dry add a splash of almond milk or just water.
